Getting Serious

From the life of the boy-king, Josiah, we learn much about what it means to take our journey of faith seriously. Reared in the shadow of a wicked grandfather and an even more wicked father, Josiah was placed on Israel's throne at the age of eight years. Providence graced Israel by allowing a king who was not yet (and would never be) corrupted by the apostasy that had engulfed the nation. By the time Josiah was in his late teens, he had learned what it meant to follow God and the rest of his reign in Israel was marked by revolution and reformation. This sermon is based on biblical history but clearly applied to today's Christian. Dealing with issues like our attitude concerning sin, houses of worship, Kingdom investing of finances, the Word of God and brokenhearted repentance, this message allows for all of us to gauge our level of seriousness toward our faith. Your culture is spiraling out of control and heading toward a moral abyss - what are you doing to resist it? Nominal Christianity, devoid of transformational power, is now the norm in the 21st Century church. This heated indictment serves as a call for the followers of Christ to cease posing and pretending and to begin purifying our hearts and hands before a holy God. 50% light & 50% heat is contained herein.
