And The Enemy Arises

Hezekiah had been faithful. God had been fruitful. The people of Israel had been reformed and revived. Great strides had been undertaken and successful as the people of God followed their leader, Hezekiah, in a repentant commitment to rid the land of sin and to bow in holy obedience to their God. Then the enemy arose and made his move. This is the way it usually works. When the followers of God declare their faithfulness to Him and begin to live for His glory, the enemy of God brings an attack. Though Hezekiah was not entirely shocked by the invasion by the Assyrians, he certainly understood how desperately he needed air from God. From this historical example we learn together some of the dynamics of the battle that each Christian experiences. Our enemy is greater than Assyria and the stakes are infinitely higher. Satan's opposition has the intention of stealing, killing and destroying anything in our lives which threatens to bring Christ glory. He is merciless, relentless and strategic. Christians need to take heed. May the listener come with prepared heart and be scripturally open-minded to the reality of spiritual warfare. This is not fanaticism but, rather, the core of the Christian's experience. We are redeemed by the blood of Christ but not exempt from the intentions of Satan. There is certainly a battle for glory which solely belongs to God. Satan is not content to allow it to go uncontested. You are caught in the crosshairs of the timeless battle between God and His enemy. Be wise about how you navigate the battlefield.
